English Actor Ian Frost as Lord Byron in the grounds of Newstead
Abbey,
the Byron Estate near Nottingham
..
As a young man, Byron had this imposing tomb built for
his beloved dog, Bosun.
On it he placed an inscription beginning:
Near this Spot
are deposited the Remains of one
who possessed Beauty without Vanity ...
Courage without Ferocity ...
and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices.

BYRON and LESSONS, as seen above, are presented in
theatre setting with Ian in costume as Lord Byron.
CELEBRATION is also fully staged. The set includes key
locations in Byron's life, with a selection of portraits.
Ian produces irreverent caricatures at Lord Byron's
expense and even some of the Elgin Marbles, describing
their careless removal from Athens in Byron's own words
as 'the rape of ancient Greece'. Since Ian is presenter
as well as Byron and some of his circle, he uses the
Byron costume only in the final sequence, which is
Byron's most powerful speech in Parliament. His words are
equally relevant today - and as the new millennium
begins.
VENICE is a simple but lively presentation of letters
and poems. Ian puts them into context for those
unfamiliar with what came before and after this colorful
time in Byron's life. There is no need for theatrical
costume.
In the KEATS and SHELLEY biographies, there is again
no need for specific costume or setting for Ian to tell
of their lives and those most intimately concerned with
them. However, in each case there is also an exhibition
relating to the poet - a dozen or more display boards
showing reproductions of portraits and engravings of the
time.
Whether in theater costume or not, we hope you will
agree with the reviewer who wrote, "When actor Ian Frost
takes to the stage, who needs a cast?"

When all four Byron pieces are presented in
association (within a week at the International Byron
Festival and for Elderhostel), this gives a truly unique
chance to assess and celebrate Lord Byron and his work.
Similarly, the three biographies of Byron, Keats and Shelley when
presented in association afford a vivid and accessible opportunity
to view these Romantics individually and collectively.
The two most recent presentations have both actor and playwright
on stage. In the first, Ian and Bill compare, contrast, and enjoy
the lives and work of the three poets:
Three Romantics: BYRON, KEATS &
SHELLEY!
In their most recent show - a chance to consider
two of the three in greater depth. Using fresh and fascinating
material, the actor and playwright explore the friendship, the
rivalry, and the passions of both poets during the six years they
knew each other:
EXTRAORDINARY FRIENDS: Byron &
Shelley
